Flower die cut on Easter Bonnet

These fabric flower die cuts are so fun!  And there's so many things you can do with them--isn't this a sweet Easter bonnet?  I just added SU large gros grain ribbon and die cut flowers with batting and a pink brad.  Now if I only had a little girl to give it to!  Don't think my 23 year old would go for it!!!  I think I may try to sell it in an upcoming craft fair.....

Rag Quilt Purse

I can't BELIEVE that I made this in 2 short afternoons!!!  I am not a sewing machine person, altho I got one for college graduation...I just don't have the patience of cutting and messing with things going wrong with the machine and not having a finished project right away...  WELL!!!!  I cut for this using the Big Shot Die cut machine (sooooo easy) and I was able to go from start to finish in about 4 hours!!!  The material is some that I got from my mom's stash (she was a wonderful sewer).  Know what I'm going to do next?  Make those flowers and put them on flip flops--what a cute outfit with a pink golf shirt and white capris!
The hardest part of the whole purse was turning the handles inside out after I sewed them!

Anyway, this is one that I'm doing for free--it's the easel card made into a frame. I also used the build-a-brad on the punched flower. Come and learn how to make it! The pic is 15 years old when my sister flew here to surprise me for my 40th b'day (I guess I just gave my age away--whoops! You didn't read that!) This is a great thing to give as a gift, isn't it? And yes, I know that isn't how you really spell "surprise!" :-)

Chocolate Bunny

This is one of the cards we made at the make & take this weekend--isn't he cute?  Some of us added a googly eye and punched some bites off of his ears.....adorable!

Can you tell that the vase is the ornament punch?  I also used one of the new brads on the flower--it matches perfectly, doesn't it?  This card can be used more many  different occasions, I think.

I LOVE Easel cards!

This is my first attempt at an easel card--and I was thrilled how easy it was!  We are doing this at the make & take this weekend.  The pics show it closed, as an easel, and open.
Basically, you want to score an 8 1/2" x 4 pice of cs  lengthwise at 4 1/4 and 6 3/8.  Fold mountain style.  Attach a piece of 4x4 cs at the top of the smaller fold.  This gives you the "easel".  The only other thing that is necessary, is to put a piece of cs at the bottom of the inside so it will stand up (that is the sage shadow scalloped piece here.)  I used the new Sizzlets butterfly die for the butterflies.

Think Spring?

The sun comes out for about 1 second, and I think of Spring!  I know, it's a long way off--but it is fun to make a "Springish" card!  This uses the stamp set we got at convention-I totally forget the name of it-and my catty isn't right here-sorry!  The cs and ink are "in colors" and Old Olive.  I also used the NEW scallop border punch that I got FREE with a $50 order in the Sale-A-Bration brochure!  You can have one, too-just click on the SU catalogue and it will take you to my website where you can place an order.

Back to stamping!

I'm back to the wonderful life of stamping!  And I want to thank all of my friends for their concern and wonderful cards after my surgery-I don't know what I would do without you!  The healing will be a long process, but at least I can see and the cancer is gone-whew!
This cute card is one we will make this Sat. with the 5th grade girls.  The back is embossed and I markered the tree to get the 2 colors.  Then I used the Blender pen to fill in the trunk.  Of course, I had to add glitter on the tree top!

More fun projects...

Hi stampers!  Here are some projects that I have planned for the 13th-there are a bunch of 5th grade girls coming over for a make & take--won't that be fun?  There will be one more item--but I'm not sure what it will be yet!  The fish are using the ornament stamp and punch--The tic tac holder and pixie stick use the butterfly Big Shot die .  The initial card uses the new designer paper and is perfect for a note or a thank you card.
Tomorrow I undergo a Moh's procedure (removal of squamous cell skin cancer) on my lower eyelid and the next day is the plastic surgery reconstruction.  I'm telling you this because it's all because I felt I had to be tanner that everyone else when I was younger!  Please tell your kids (and you, too!) USE SUNSCREEN!!!

Whole Lotta Valentines Goin' On!

This is a lollypop elephant that I did for a shoebox swap with some sidelines.  We had a great time getting together and stamping!

This is a box made from the SU die cut and it holds decorated York patties.  The heart stamp is one of the new acrylic stamps--love it!!  Above it are some more candies.

There are also lollypop holders from my last make & take.  I used the scallop box die cut.                                            

 The candle is from the make & take.  Wrapped in the new Designer paper and embellished with a new butterfly die cut that embosses and cuts.  Plus the new satin ribbon!

Leaving tomorrow to drive to Chicago for 6 days, so I wanted to leave you wil some ideas!  Check back next week for some more!

Writing Thank you notes

Here is my daughter, Rori, writing thank yous for her Christmas gifts.  It's always been a family policy to write them pretty soon after the occasion.  This was cutting it pretty close, because she was getting ready to leave for the airport to go back to Chicago!  I would LOVE to say that she made the cards to put them in, but sadly, she's just not into making cards!  (where did I go wrong?  :-)     )    But, of course, I made mine and we stuck them into my cards....
I think handmade thank yous are a must--do you?  And, as I tell my hubby--it didn't cost me anything!!!

Would this fall under "Altered Glass Candle"?

Glass Jar candles make a great gift for a friend or yourself!  And they are so easy to decorate to make them more personal---just wrap with some designer paper and add some ribbon and embellishments!  Perfect to keep on hand for "emergency gifts" when decorated with a non-holiday theme.    Also, decorated body lotion and soap containers make great gifts!  Stock up when you see them on sale!

I LOVE TaB!!!!

Many of you know that I am totally addicted to TaB cola.  Ever since it first came out in the early '70's!  Sadly, it is unavaliable now in my area-so I had a friend getting it for me in St. Jo, MO and I stock up when visiting family in Illinois.

Anyway, here are some of my Tab things!  The glass at the top is a retro one given to me by my friend Holly-she even put my fave candy in it!  Next to it is a key holder that I made.  Below are the stamps that I ordered from Stampin' Up (did you know that you can have them made to say whatever you want?  I also have a "Wine a bit...you'll feel better!" one!  These are great for Thank yous and note cards.  And a cute key chain from my friend Patty in Arizona...

And finally, the Tab can butterfly pin!  I cut it using the Big Shot butterfly die cut, backed it with cardstock and added chunky glitter around the edges.  This is going out to you, Natalie!  Natalie started the http://www.ilovetab.com/  website.  Check it out!  And she added me to the Hall of Fame (has some old pics of me in college with my Tab)!  Natalie has become a stamper and made the cutest Christmas card!  So be checking the mail for your pin that I made you!

Happy New Year!

It has been a big year of ups and downs-as I'm sure it has been for many.  Hopefully 2010 will be a great one for you!  Bringing me to these cards which look rather boring, don't they?  Let me explain!  On New Year's Eve we get together with our friends and go to a hotel and have a great dinner and play games.  This year, I added these for each of us.  Inside we were to write down things that we wanted to accomplish this year (not resolutions)--like personal, social, business goals, etc.  Then NEXT year when we get together, we will see how many we were able to cross off!  I don't know about you, but it helps me to see them and be able to cross them off (I guess I'm a list person!) and to be accountable for them...

I am so blessed to have this outlet to share ideas, the friends that I have made through Stampin' Up and to be a part of such a great company.  It provides us with great products for the beginner and the expert....

Lovin' the new SU glittered paper!

It's weird to be thinking of Valentines when I am in the midst of taking down Christmas decor! But I HAD to show you the new Valentine's designer paper from Stampin' Up (in the new mini). This 6x3 card uses it and the new corner punch and new stamp set and new brads. It's hard to see, but the round thing on the front was stamped in Versamark, then in light pink. I poured on some irridescent ice EP and embossed--giving it a glitter to match the paper. This is a great way to get any color you want to when embossing!

Already thinking of Valentine's Day!!

First-thanks for stopping by after such a long time since I've posted! The days seem to be flying by....
Did you have a good holiday? We have--my daughter, Rori, has been home since the 23rd and we've enjoyed having her around. She lives in Chicago and loves it! So the snow that we've had here is nothing to her!
Last night she took me to Par Excellance for a pedicure (one of my Xmas gifts) and it was sooooo nice to sit and be pampered! Then we walked across the parking lot in our little flip flops they give you (COLD!) to Riccos for a glass of wine and pizza and of course-the garlic bread that is to die for! She left this morning for Las Vegas to ring in the New Year! Ah, to be young again!

I've been playing with my new stuff from Stampin' Up the past few days--this is a card I made for a swap with sidelines. It uses the NEW ACRYLIC STAMPS--yes! I did say acrylic! The stamp is actually rubber and it adheres to a clear block. LOVE THEM!! Also, notice the new punch, new embossing folder, new stain ribbon and new brads! These are from the new mini and will be available to order on Jan. 5.

I made another card for a swap for our downline meeting that I will post next. Check back soon!

More Gift Card holders!

I like gift cards. I like getting them and giving them. Here is another way to jazz them up! When you pull on the ribbon, up comes the card! So the recipient knows you put SOME thought into the gift when you make these! Use cardstock slightly bigger than the card and enough to wrap around and adhere closed. Decorate. The ribbon is added last and you fold it in half, insert the card in the fold, insert card and ribbon in folder, bring through holes punched at top and tie a knot. Easy!

You can't go wrong with CHOCOLATE!

Here's a gift idea that everyone will love! Wrapped candy bars! Just wrap designer paper around a chocolate bar (I used regular and giant sizes), and decorate the front...Perfect gift for all ages-male or female! If you need to make a bunch, the punched designs go quickly! It's also a good place to stick in a gift card :-)

Snowflake Pixi Sticks

What a great little thing to make when you have to make alot of something! These pixi sticks are decorated with silver embossed snowflakes and layered on a punched snowflake. I sold a bunch of these at the craft fair. If you look closely, you can see that I used a silver rub-on on the class vase. I keep forgetting about those rub-ons!

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas!

At least. it's starting to FEEL like Christmas with the cold weather! Altho, it better WAIT until I make my Christmas cards! I am SOOOO behind!

Here's what we are making this weekend! The Santa is a gift card holder--there is a small bag the size of a gift card on the back. The 3-D diorama is in the middle, the snowman thank you card (making 2) and gift tags in the front. Hope you can join the fun! Be sure to save your spot asap....

Christmas Gift Card Holders

These are some of the gift card holders that I made for the craft fair in Lexington. On the right, you can kinda see that it opens up and has a place for the gift card.

I don't know about you, but it seems that every year, I give more gift cards than presents and it's so much more fun to give it in a cute holder! I think it's because my daughter and nieces and nephew are getting so OLD that I can't shop for them anymore! Anyway, they do like getting a gift card better than what I may pick out for them! (not that I don't have good taste...!)

Our Thanksgiving trip up North.....

Here we are (me, Rori and Ross) at his mom's house in Michigan. Sadie (our dog) came with us and it was too funny, because she was afraid to walk anywhere where there wasn't carpet! So we had to make a path of rugs across the floor or she would've stayed in the living room the whole time!

Who says Christmas has to be Red & Green?

This Christmas card that I made uses Plum, Almost Amythst and Gold & Silver--not your traditional colors! But still Christmasy I think! In fact, this year, the colors are all over the place--from Art Deco Turquoise to light blue and purples! I say to be creative and use whatever colors you have around! And, if you are like me, make several styles of cards and different colors. (keeps the boredom at bay!)

Well, we are leaving tomorrow early for a long drive for Thanksgiving. First. stopping at Aunt Helen's in Arlinton Heights, Ill for the night (she loves to craft, so am bringing some things for us to make)-then the next morning off to Detroit to be with my husband's mom for the holiday. Our daughter is driving up from Chicago to meet us there. Then Sat. morning leaving for Naperville, Il to my folks for 1 night and then back to KC on Sunday! I have a bunch of audio books and stuff to punch and adhere in the car. (making more of the licorice leg Santas and mice). We are also bringing our new dog, Sadie--so hope all goes well with her on the long drive!

Button Bracelet

Hello!

This is a pic of the button bracelet I made last night at DeAnn's button class! You can't really see all of the detail, but I sewed buttons onto a denim fabric and there is elastic in the middle. Also, I added some beads on top of some of the buttons. I can't remember the last time I actually sewed with a needle and thread! But it was a REALLY fun class! Some people made button bouquets and some made bracelets. Several of these buttons are ones I've inherited thru the years from family members--so it is special to me.

Thanks DeAnn, for a great class! We will be thinking of you and your shoulder replacement tomorrow! Off to go work out at Curves (trying to anticipate the Thanksgiving weight gain--aagghh!)

My 100th post!!

I can't believe that it's my 100th post already! Thank you to all who check out my blog-I appreciate it! My goal is to get some more followers--so I'd love it if you added yourself!

This card is one that I came up with after getting the idea for the reindeer from a swap at convention. It is stamped in Versamark and chalked on the body, and embossed with gold for the antlers. You can hardly see, but there is Dazzling Diamond glitter along the bottom. It is stunning in person! We will be making this at the next make & take Dec. 11 and 13th.

We had a great time last weekend at the make & take--thanks to all who attended! And congrats to Kelley and Sharon for winning the stamp set door prizes!

Such a dreary day today. I'm anxious to head down to my craft room and play!!

Make and Take this weekend

The cute turkey, above, is all punched. The card next to it (photo doesn't do it justice!) has several layers and crystal effects-and uses the ornament punch. We'll be using the Stamp-a-ma-jig on the 3 ornament card. And my favorite card (think I may use these for my Christmas cards!) is stenciled and stamped. Oops! I just noticed that the bow fell off before I took the picture! It goes where you see the little glue dot on the string! Finally, the optional mouse with licorice legs!

TOO Cute!

I had SO much fun making this Santa! I got the idea for "licorice legs" from a swap I got at convention--a woman made the cutest "Lady with licorice legs" (I am sorry that I don't know who you are)--SO I thought it might work for a Santa...He is all punched and sponged in black around his tummy and arms. The black cs is folded back at the top and stapled to hold the legs on. What a neat stocking stuffer or little gift!

Christmas card class

Hello friends and fellow stampers! You know, I LOVE making Christmas cards! And I have had the BEST weekend because I was able to PLAY and come up with designs for this upcoming class and for my upcoming make & take! I also had time to make my Christmas swap cards for my group meeting....

These are the cards for the class...we are making 18 cards for $25. That is a REAL GOOD DEAL
when you think about how much they would cost if you bought them! The class is this Sat., Nov.7 anytime between 10-4 (allowing a couple hours to make them--6 of each design). I suggest you bring envelopes and adhesive. Let me know if you are interested in coming to the class by Tuesday--I have alot of cutting to do!
